Lexus LS500 Rent in Dubai

As the flagship of the Lexus brand, the Lexus LS500 Rent in Dubai sits near the top of the luxury-car hierarchy and challenges European contenders with its Japanese aesthetic. Unlike flagship sedans from rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the LS eschews the traditional V-8 engine in favor of either a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine (LS500) or a hybrid setup comprised of a V-6 and two electric motors (LS500h). Its quiet, leather-lined cabin impresses with some unique design flourishes, but ergonomic issues with the infotainment system are irksome. Plus, the available hybrid powertrain is unrefined, and the LS’s driving dynamics aren’t as satisfying as key rivals.

Few changes are in store, as the Lexus LS500 Rent in Dubai was recently redesigned for the 2018 model year. Lexus has introduced a limited-edition Inspiration Series model for 2020, and only 300 will be produced. The special edition comes only in Deep Garnet red with a white, semi-aniline leather interior with Kiriko glass trim, 20-inch dark-chrome wheels, a 23-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and plenty more luxury features. The same dark-chrome finished wheels are available on the other LS models, and the F Sport trim can be optioned with the same white leather upholstery.

We’d stick with the standard twin-turbocharged V-6 engine and rear-wheel drive, if only to reserve funds to add the LS’s coolest features. We’d spring for the Luxury package—it’s expensive but worth it—as it adds heated and cooled front and rear seats, semi-aniline leather upholstery, 28-way power-adjustable front seats with massage, rear bucket seats, a rear center console with touchscreen controls for climate, audio, and seat functions, four-zone automatic climate control, and power rear sunshades. The optional adjustable air suspension, 20-inch wheels, a 360-degree exterior camera system, real wood interior trim, and a wood- and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel are all required to add the Luxury package. This pushes the LS500’s price up $17,000, but that’s still cheaper than the base Mercedes-Benz S-class and offers more luxury equipment.

The standard engine in the LS is a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 that delivers a silky-smooth 416 horsepower and sounds refined and powerful while under heavy throttle and hushed when cruising. Gear changes are handled by a 10-speed automatic transmission controlled by a leather-wrapped knob on the center console. Performance is more than enough for this car’s luxury mission, but V-8–powered variants of the BMW 7-series and the Mercedes-Benz S-class proved to be quicker at our test track. Models badged LS500h feature a hybrid powertrain that uses a 3.5-liter V-6 and two electric motors to make 354 horsepower. While the standard twin-turbo V-6 matches the LS’s creamy ride quality with a similarly smooth operation, the hybrid arrangement feels unrefined and altogether un-luxurious. The engine sounds raspy and coarse, and the transmission—a mashup of a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and a regular four-speed automatic—steps through pre-set gear ratios with all the crispness of a soggy cornflake.

Fuel-economy estimates for the hybrid are indeed better than the non-hybrid LS500’s figures, so if you’re looking to save a buck at the pump we suppose that’s the one redeeming quality of the LS500h’s powertrain. Whereas the rear-wheel-drive LS500 claims 30/19 mpg highway/city, the rear-wheel drive LS500h earned 33/25 mpg rating from the EPA. In our real-world testing, an all-wheel-drive LS500h managed a 30 mpg result on our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test; an all-wheel-drive LS500 F Sport managed 26 mpg.

Flowing lines, intricately patterned fabrics, and rich leather upholstery lines the cabin of the LS. Real wood trim, artful glass inserts, and cleverly pleated door panel fabric are all available garnishes and, when added, create an all the more impressive interior ambience. Passenger space is generous for four adults. Adding a fifth person in the standard three-across rear bench would be a cruel way to deny passengers a true luxury experience, so we recommend the optional bucket seats. The rear seatbacks are fixed in place, so bulky cargo items may not easily fit in the LS. The trunk, however, is generously sized and held six of our carry-on suitcases in both the LS500 and hybrid LS500h models. Both the Audi A8 and the Genesis G90 accommodated the same amount of luggage.

All Lexus LS500 Rent in Dubai models come with a big 12.3-inch infotainment system with Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay capability, navigation, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. It looks great nestled under a leather-wrapped ledge in the dashboard. Unfortunately, interacting with the system is less pleasing. A fussy touchpad on the center console is the only tactile way to adjust vehicle settings, switch audio sources, or set a destination in the navigation menu. Luckily, the system recognizes some voice commands, but a touchscreen would elevate the experience and make some tasks easier. Speaking of making certain tasks easier, is it too much to ask for physical buttons for simple things like heated seats? Lexus thinks so. In order to activate this feature, users must navigate to a submenu in the infotainment system.

Crash-test results for the Lexus LS500 Rent in Dubai are not available from either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). As with most other Lexus models, the LS comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 suite of driver-assistance features.
